Our Father desires to make our relationship with Him a very beautiful and rewarding experience so also provides in this Word a very ugly picture of idolatry .. comparing it to the destruction unfaithfulness brings .. giving a warning regarding the dangers of gratification of the flesh.
The fallen nature .. void of the influence of God's Spirit and Words of wisdom .. creates a climate for self destruction.
These topics are very unpleasant .. when we face the reality of wickedness attempting to merge/"marry" religion.
This is something God abhors and ultimately will destroy.

The wicked expect monetary rewards .. but the devil is "the father of lies".. knowing that God provides the ultimate destruction of those who selfishly try to fulfill their own desires by ignoring God's plan for their life .. as they try to become their own "god" fulfilling their own self-centered plan.

So it's all about the money and fleshly benefits .. "but money can't buy you (genuine) love".
The devil is a trickster. The truth is God and His Word bring genuine eternal life .. love .. peace .. joy .. health .. and ultimate riches.
We were created to live forever .. somewhere else.
The question is:
"Where do you choose to live?"
There are only two choices .. and to refuse to choose .. is to choose hell.
To choose the love and relationship Jesus Christ died to make available to us .. is to choose life in an eternal world based on genuine love and all the benefits associated in that type of environment.

= fall away (=depart)
God's Word is all about opposites and choices.
• good vs. evil
• light vs. darkness
• pure vs. filthy
• remove vs. embrace
• life vs. death
Numbers in Hebrew and Greek in God's Holy Word reveal only two choices.
Not to choose eternal life with Christ beginning right now .. leaves us stuck with the choice of an eternal death in hell.
We were not created to worship false gods and give away all the benefits God desires give to those who appreciate the price He paid to have a wonderful eternal relationship with Him.
He promised that even though this world will pass away .. His Word and promises will never pass away.
It's our choice.
