Introduction ...

Our Heavenly Father:

... by the power of His Word

... plants the seed of salvation

... into our heart

... faithfully nurturing

... until we grow

... ultimately emerging

... straight and tall

... redeemed from the fall

... rising to meet Him

... at His call

... This is "NUN."

King David knows how God uses this process to provide the "light" needed to ... "step by step" ... "move" in the right direction ... according to God's divine will

... so he tells God:

Thy word is a lamp

unto my feet,

and

a light

unto my path.

The main focus of David's first verse ... in this Fourteenth Section ... is the topic of the very "Word of God" ... thee most preeminent "Word" ... that exists ... that has ever existed.

In previous posts we have seen how our Father has provided more than enough evidence through His "Word" ... to validate that Jesus Christ ... the Holy Spirit ... and the Father ... are all present in the preeminent "Word of God" ... working as one to impress upon our hearts:

(1).. the Truth about ... the only Way to eternal Life with our Creator ... the Lord Jesus Christ

... and ...

(2).. the only Way to find ... and stay on ... the narrow "path" to eternal life.

However ... this "Word" ... that resides in the Bible ... is not like any other word ... but similar to the parables of Jesus ... in that ... it is intentionally spiritually designed ... so it cannot be correctly understood by everyone

...  but understanding ... is dependant ... on the condition of one's heart.

The only way our heart can meet this condition is by:

(1).. genuinely repenting of sin

(2).. submitting to the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ

(3).. being "born-again" of the "Holy Spirit"

... and ...

(4).. willingly obeying  ... following ... the totality of the " Word of God" ... the Holy Bible.

The "Holy Spirit" is given to genuine believers to teach us how to ... "rightly divide" ... or interpret ... understand ... the "Word of God."

The "Holy Spirit" is the "Word" ... expounding the "Word" ... if you will.

Our ability to understand "God's Word" ... has been hindered ... over the years ... in many ways.

One way ... is by the degradation of language in the world ... as the Bible ... which once served as our primary textbook ... used to define words and build vocabulary ... has gradually lost its place in the classroom.

So at one time ... people were blessed with a common understanding of the meaning of words ... but now ... words are subtilly being re-defined and corrupted ... at will ... by a careless ... and  rebellious culture.

Knowing this degredation would occur ... our Heavenly Father led men of God to preserve His definitions ... in two other books:

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary ... lists the definitions of words during that specific historic period ... including many Biblical "Words" ... with very detailed descriptions ... almost like an encyclopedia

... serving as a witness to establish exactly how these "Words" were being used at that time in history.

Today some are calling Strong's Concordance ... a superstitious tool of "gematria" ... suggesting that it promotes some sort of "mystic numerology" ... without understanding what God's intention was when He caused it to be written.

So ... really ... what is a "concordance?"

Simply put ... a concordance is a "glorified dictionary" ... that not only includes the Hebrew and Greek "Words" of the Bible

... but has also assigned a number to every "Word":

(1).. making it possible to locate specific verses in the Bible ... even if we can only remember just one "Word" found in the verse

(2).. every assigned number ... provided to facilitate expounding the meaning of the "Word" ... as it appears in the specific context of what God has written

(3).. numbers strategically placed to highlight times and historical dates when God moved to bring about ordained events

... thereby serving as another source ... validating His position as "Placement Director"

 ... and

... sole ... Supreme Author ... of every "Word" of the Holy Bible.

So ... with all of these detailed definitions ... and the help of the "Holy Spirit" ... we can discover exactly how God intended us to understand what He is saying ... with the "Words" He is using ... even when our language today has become corrupted.

Our Father has constructed His "Word" with "commandments" and "counsel" that supernaturally carry a "message" that can "provide" every "thought spoken"

... every "sentence" ... with advice required for any specific moment ... to serve as a:

"lamp"

God's "Word" is the "Lamp" ... the container that carries the "Light" of the Holy Spirit "fire"

... which has the power ... the "Light" produced by the Holy Spirit Oil ... to ignite the heart and direct our:

"feet"

  = journey .. walk .. move

  = steps .. possession .. time

  = go on foot .. go about

Our Creator has also carefully placed many lessons within His construction of the human body that can also serve as "parables" ... pictures ... and clues ... that help us physically and spiritually  make this "journey" in life.

For example ... through the study of "natural healing" ... we discover how God created our body to heal itself on a daily basis ... when given what it needs to function and repair

... and helps us recognize how the "feet" were designed with a pattern imprinted on the bottom ... top ... and "toes" that corresponds to ... and can ... through the central nervous system ... influence every organ in the body.

How amazing that the biggest clue regarding mapping of the "feet" is given to us in the very name and number David uses in "NUN" ... [H7272] ... "feet" ... with the understanding that whatever affects the "feet" ... affects the whole body.

For this reason ... King David was inspired to use the "Word" ... "feet" often in his spiritual descriptions

... and the Lord Jesus Christ also validated the connection that the "feet" have with the entire body

... when He used this principle to demonstrate how washing the "feet" in "water"

... symbolizes the whole ... entire ... person being washed by the "Water of the Word of God."

For this reason we see that [H7272] also includes "legs" ... "toes" ... emphasizing "great toe"

... "great toe" being emphasized ... because (like the thumb) ... it is connected through the nervous system to the head ... brain ... and mind.

... So if we want to minister to the whole physical body ... a good place to start is by increasing circulation ... soaking "feet" in a tub of warm "water" to bring nourishment to cells and remove toxins ... as folks used to do in the "good old days"😊

... something that can actually be experienced as it brings comfort to the entire body.

...and if we want to stimulate the head ... brain ... and mind ... we can also focus on ministering to the "great toe."

Therefore this physical picture of the spiritual connection David is making can be applied  when the "Word of God" ... serves as the "container" ... the "Lamp" to direct the "feet" ... including the "toes" in this way:

... "great toe" = head

... next two "toes" = eyes

... and

... last two "toes" = ears

... all of which are engaged (head/mind ... eyes ... and ears) ... to direct our "feet" ... as the "Word" ... which is the "Lamp"

  = teaching .. wisdom

Like a tub of warm "water" ... for the "feet" ... comforts and makes us feel better physically

... and the increased circulation brings nourishment to cells and removes toxins ... enabling us to physically heal and function more efficiently 

... the "Light" of the Holy Spirit that resides in the "Word of God" spiritually comforts and lights our way by providing ... "wisdom" ... "instruction" ... "doctrine" ... "teaching" from God's "Holy Word"

... to become more spiritually effective as He "illuminates" ... gives "Light" to our:

"path"

Our "journey" can be long and difficult ... but our God is "faithful" to design our specific "route in life" and "preserve" us

... until the day He appears and we hear His call ... to "Come up!"

David understands that ... possessing knowledge of the Truth of the "Word of God" ... carries with it a great responsibility

... therefore ... confirms:

David has learned the value of the "Word of God" ... so he isn't going to take one step into the dark world without the "Light" ... the "Word of God" provides

... therefore ... he makes a "promise" to God ... that he will "fulfill" ... carry out ... and:

  = become powerful

  = come on the scene

  = cause to stand .. abide

  = maintain oneself

  = to be established

Consulting "God's Word" before he puts his "feet" on any "path" ... is going to be a practice that is firmly "fixed" ... "established" as an important part of his life.

Therefore ... David has "sworn" ... is committed to "continue" ... to "accomplish" ... all that is required to:

"Keeping"... "performing" ... "fulfilling" ... what we have "sworn" to believe ... "validates" ... what we say we believe.

Our mere words have no value ... if they are not "performed" ... acted upon ... according to God's standard

... describing exactly what He considers to be:

"righteous"

  = lawful .. God's attributes

  = ethically right .. legal

  = vindicated .. moral

David manifests the wisdom God has given him ... by ever so quickly acknowledging that he has already "sworn" to "perform" ... what God considers to be "righteous" ... "normal" ... as God defines  what "normal" really is ... and what He has ordained the "Word" ... "moral" ... to mean.

BUT ... it is not enough to "know" how God "measures" what is just and "righteous"

... we must actually take physical action to "keep" His just and "righteous":

Anyone and everyone who understands the importance of our Creator's "Words" ... and desires to follow them ... will be praying with David:

I am afflicted very much:

quicken me, O LORD,

according unto thy word.

Genuine Christians ... those who understand the preeminence of the "Word of God" ... and desire to follow His every "Word" ... can expect to be:

"afflicted"

  = put down .. force

  = mishandle (persecute)

However ... being "afflicted" ... "persecuted" ... serves as valuable ... encouraging ... evidence that we are being counted worthy to escape the wrath of God ... that is soon to come upon the whole earth ... as the Lord Jesus ... and ... the Apostle Paul remind us:

"Watch ye therefore,

and pray always,

that ye may be

accounted worthy

to escape all these things

that shall come to pass,

and

to stand before

the Son of man."

(Luke 21:36)

"We are bound

to thank God always

for you, brethren,

as it is meet,

because that your faith

groweth exceedingly,

and

the charity of

every one of you all toward

each other aboundeth;

So that we ourselves

glory in you

in the churches of God

for your patience and faith

in all your persecutions

and

tribulations that ye endure:

Which is a manifest token

of the righteous judgment

of God, that ye may be

counted worthy of

the kingdom of God,

for which ye also suffer:"

David's prayer reminds us that ... when "afflicted" ... it's time to pray that our Father would:

"quicken"

  = be restored to life .. health

  = revive from:

  = sickness

  = discouragement

      .. faintness .. death

  = to preserve life (health)

  = nourish up .. (nurture)

  = deliver from destruction

Why does David need to pray that God would "quicken" ... "sustain"  ... "revive" ... and "nourish up" his life?

... because "afflictions" and "persecutions" are designed by the enemy to slow-kill believers ... by draining their physical as well as spiritual resources.

This is one of the reasons elders are called to minister to those in the church ... who are sick.

Contrary to popular opinions and practices among professing Christians today ... while our Father is pleased to heal in an instant at times ... not all healing in the early Church ... or today ... is supernaturally instantaneous.

The Bible and other reliable historic records indicate that Luke ... the physician ... and many others ... continued to use plant oils and ointments ... in addition to prayer ... to minister to members of the body of Christ

... and it is very likely that when elders were instructed to "pray and anoint with oil" it was in reference to calling the elders ... older ... more experienced members of the fellowship ... who were appointed to the position of elder because they understood how to use ointments and oils ... in accord with prayer ... to facilitate healing and bring comfort to the "afflicted"

... sometimes instantaneously ... sometimes gradually ... through these other means God provided.

The fact that our Creator designed plants for healing is strongly supported in His Holy Word and not something we should ever consider as witchcraft ... just because ... what God has created may be used in some pagan practices today.

How ironic that the truth regarding God's perfectly safe ... created remedies are looked at with suspicion and being discouraged ... while the world's chemical remedies ... "pharmakia" ... that are packaged with a list of very risky side effects ... (including mental impairment which can also hinder spiritual life) ... are now freely promoted ... even in the church.

Is any sick among you?

let him call for the elders

of the church;

and

let them pray over him,

anointing him with oil

in the name of the Lord:

And

the prayer of faith

[produced by

the Word of God]

shall save the sick,

and

the Lord shall

raise him up;

and

if he have committed sins,

they shall be forgiven him.

(James 5:14-15)

So David prays that God will "quicken" ... "restore" him:

"according to thy Word"

Something to consider:

... Are we asking our Creator to "revive" us "according to His Word" ... or according to someone else's word?

Certainly our Creator

... is the One who designed every cell in our body

... is the One who embodies the "Wisdom" we need to take the right "path" in life

... is therefore ... the One we should put our hope in

... praying:

Accept, I beseech thee,

the freewill offerings

of my mouth, O LORD,

and

teach me thy judgments.

BUT ... 

"All we ... like sheep ... have gone astray" 

"All we like sheep

have gone astray;

we have turned every one

to his own way;

and

the LORD

hath laid on him

the iniquity of us all."

... therefore it is vital to our eternal life to continually align our heart with God's heart ... so we are walking with Him ... enjoying all of the knowledge ... wisdom ... and benefits of communicating with Him

... being assured that what we say to Him is going to be something He can:

"Accept"

It's His acceptance ... "approval" ... "favor" we should be seeking ... not the world's ... "approval"

... not aligning ourselves with the world's agenda

... not "loving the world and the things of the world"

... but always seeking the favor of God ... who is our ultimate physical and spiritual Healer

... as well as

... legal Authority ... by right of Creator.

Therefore ... our requests should be made as submissive:

Because our Creator is the Source and sustainer of our life ... we eagerly ... submissively ... "willingly" ... expect to receive what we need to do His will ... with a "spontaneous" ... "readiness of mind" ... that comes from our heart and ... in "abundance"  ... freely flows from our:

However ... while we are "forming" the words in our heart that will come from our "mouth" ... we must also realize that our heart needs to be aligned with the heart of our Creator

... and because we have the tendency to go our own way ... instead of His Way ... we must ... at the same time ask Him to:

So first we need "to be taught" ... "trained" ... "instructed" ... "diligently shown" His:

Once we submit to God's "instruction" and hands-on "training" ... we will come to appreciate its immeasurable value and can say with King David:

My soul is continually

in my hand:

yet do I not forget

thy law.

What is in our "hand" ... under our control ... having the freedom to do with as we choose?

What is the thing we must remember ... that is also continually our responsibility?

David reminds himself ... his Creator ... and us

... that while we have been given the freedom to choose ... it is our heavy responsibility to ultimately choose the destination of our very own:

"soul"

That part of our being that lasts forever is our own "self" ... "inner man" ... "eternal life" ... our "soul."

It is that part of us that lives forever ... that David reminds us ... we have in our "hand" ... and have the "freedom" to do with as we choose

... and it is also our responsibility to spiritually "grow":

The Truth is ... we should be so heavenly minded ... that all we can do ... is spiritually "grow"

... because our heart and mind are "continually" aware that this world is not our home

... which motivates us to become focused "daily" ... "constantly" ... on being "engaged in" ... "expanding" our capacity ... "making room for" ... "always growing" in the Word of God

... always mindful that the decisions we make affect the eternal destiny we "hold" in our:

"hand"

  = out of hand (of wicked) 

  = freedom

Realizing all that is at stake ... David assures God that this is something he definitely is not going to:

"forget"

  = not remember

  = cause to forget

  = be forgotten

  = lost attention

Since we are going to live somewhere else forever ... one's eternal life ... is not to be "ignored" ... or something in which we have one day "forgotten" ... "cease to care" about

... but have prepared for by faithfully ... "daily" ... focusing on embracing God's:

"law"

  = prophetic teaching

  = interpret Word of God

Not everyone loves God's Law ... so ... if I embrace God's Law ... and am fully committed to it

... I will soon discover ... like David ... that:

The wicked

have laid a snare

for me:

yet I erred not

from thy precepts.

The moment we choose to follow God's "precepts" ... we enter the great spiritual battle taking place between God and the:

"wicked"

  = criminal .. law breaker

  = guilty

  = hostile .. rebellious

  = against God

  = ungodly .. condemned

  = having unrighteous cause

When we contemplate the Word, "wicked" ... we realize why we find ourselves engaged in battle.

The battle is not ... necessarily ... the result of any error we have made ... or sin committed ... it is because there are "criminals" ... "law breakers" who hate God ... His Word ... and His Laws.

Since it is impossible to touch God ... the "wicked" ... the "hostile" ... "rebellious" ones ... attempt to hurt God

... by attacking His people ... planning to "inflict" pain upon them with the "traps" they have cunningly:

"laid"

The "wicked" have studied the many ways to:

"snare"

  = cause to fall

The righteous are builders and helpers ... while the "wicked" sit up nights thinking devilish thoughts regarding the many ways they can "cause" one of God's people "to fall" ... "cause them to" suddenly realize that they have been deceived and have:

"erred"

  = cause to wander

  = cause to go astray

  = intoxication (drugged)

  = mislead .. seduce

  = deceive .. (trick)

  = cause to err mentally 

      .. morally

There are many ways to "fall" into the "snares" of the "wicked" 

... the lure of the world can break our focus on the preeminence of the Lord Jesus Christ ... the Word of God ... and our eternal destination

... the "intoxicating" lure of fleshly desires ... alcohol ... legal ... as well as ... illegal ... "drugs" that mislead and "seduce" those who are not spiritually awake

... or those who have bought into false doctrines that promote an incomplete Bible ... which does not include the dangers of ... physically and spiritually ... "intoxicating" substances.

All of these methods the enemy of our "soul" can use at will to "deceive" ... "cause" God's people to "err mentally and morally."

Therefore David leads us to pray against the wiles of the devil ... reminding us to maintain a tight grip on God's:

"precepts"

  = for purpose of attending to

While God's "precepts" help us discern spiritual danger and deception

... in the midst of our trials and troubles ... we can still find reason to be encouraged and rejoice saying with David:

When the "Laws of God" are personally applied to our life ... becoming a "revelation by the Holy Spirit"

... they can be:

We are actually able to "acquire" ... "inherit" ... the amazing benefits resulting from our "possession" of the wisdom of the "Law of God":

The "Laws of God" perpetuate "unending" ... "eternal":

"rejoicing"

It is even possible to experience "gladness" and "joy" in the midst of sorrow ... knowing the reality of where we stand with our Creator

... being able to follow the "path" to spiritual success ... He has laid out for us

... and maintain peace ... assured that by following His "Law"/"Word" ... we are being vindicated by the One who

... makes us "glad"... and is pleased to bring "joy" to our:

"heart"

In the last verse of this Fourteenth Section of Psalm 119 ... which focuses on our experience of "redemption" ... "growth" ... and eternal "preservation"

... we become aware that this journey requires some specific decisions and action on our part

... some things that must begin in our heart and be successfully carried out

... even until the "end":

Our "redemption" ... "salvation" ... depends on what is actually going on in our "heart" ... as we measure it up to all our Creator is saying in the balanced totality of His "Word"

... according to the teaching of the Holy Spirit ... by His "Word"

... beginning with recognizing our need of repentance ... submitting to the authority of Jesus Christ ... and then on a moment by moment basis ... becoming aware of the thoughts and intentions of our own:

However ... it is not enough to be aware of the workings of our "heart"

... by asking God to show us ways to align our thoughts and actions with the thoughts of His "heart" ... considering all He has revealed to us by the Holy Spirit from His Word
... so we might:

  = maintain .. bring forth

  = be busy .. have charge of

  = gather .. observe

It is His desire that we "accomplish" His will and follow His:

"statutes"

  = due .. task .. portion

  = decree

  = law .. conditions .. measure

  = commandments .. set time

God's will and the desires of His "heart" are lovingly engraved in His written "statutes" found in His "Holy Word."

This is the "path" ... on which we must remain:

  = everlasting .. perpetual
  = indefinite .. unending
  = eternity

"Forever" ... is a long ... long time.

It includes the reality of being something that is also "perpetual" ... constant ... continuous ... as well as "eternal."

If we profess to having "eternal" life ... then aligning our "heart" with the "heart" of our Heavenly Father

... should also cause us to expect our "heart" will require constant vigilance ... if we have truly ... with all our "heart"

... committed ourselves to following the Lord Jesus Christ ... the Living Word

... and the Holy Bible ... the Written Word

... "perpetually"
... "alway(s)"
... "forever"
... "because of"

... eternal "gain or loss"

... constantly aware of the ultimate ... "everlasting":

"end"
